On a rainy afternoon last week I was looking for a simple project to keep my kids entertained. One of my favorite ways to spend time with my boys is to invite them into the kitchen and make a fun treat together. These eyeball pudding cups from Kraft Foods were perfect for an afternoon activity. I didn’t have the original gumdrops and chocolate candies (someone had decided the M&M’s were for himself), so I improvised with what I had: round gummi Lifesavers, chocolate chips, and Wilton icing writers.

Halloween Eyeball Pudding Cups
Ingredients
-
1
pkg.
3.4 oz. JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding (or chocolate if you prefer) -
2
cups
cold milk -
4
large gumdrops
cut in half crosswise or use other large round candy -
8
small round candies -
1
tube
19.28 g red decorating gel (or tube icing)
Instructions
-
Whisk the instant pudding mix with the cold milk vigorously for about 2 minutes, until smooth and slightly thickened.
-
Spoon or pour the pudding into individual dessert cups, then refrigerate for about 20 minutes to set.
-
Just before serving, place the halved gumdrops and small round candies on the pudding to make the eyeballs. Use the red decorating gel or icing to draw veins for a bloodshot effect.
Recipe Notes
The red gel or icing can bleed slightly into the vanilla pudding, so add the red detailing as close to serving time as possible for the best appearance.
My kids loved how the cups turned out. If I make them again I’ll draw the red lines a bit more squiggly to look extra bloodshot—otherwise they almost looked like little suns!
