From tiny hands to big hearts, these adorable wood pallet coasters are the perfect kid-made Valentine’s Day gift idea!

Wood Pallet Valentine’s Day Coaster Craft
These mini wood pallet coasters are a delightful, practical craft kids can make and give for Valentine’s Day. They’re simple to assemble, look charming on display, and make heartfelt keepsakes.
The coasters are easy to find at craft stores or online. For this project we used a heart-shaped stencil cut from clear contact paper, then dabbed red and pink acrylic paint around the edges using a foam dabber. When you remove the contact-paper heart, a crisp heart remains in the center against a colorful dotted background.
This craft suits a wide range of ages. Older children can complete most steps independently; younger kids will enjoy painting and can be helped with cutting the heart shape. It’s also a fun option for an adults’ paint-and-wine “Galentine’s” get-together.

Supply List
For convenience, shop-able links were used in the original post; the list below shows the items needed for this craft.
- Mini wood pallet coasters
- Round foam paint dabber (or cotton balls/thumbs for stamping)
- Acrylic paint (red, light pink, neon pink, white)
- Clear contact paper (for heart stencil)
- Red glitter cardstock (for finishing heart)
- Scissors
- Paintbrush
Instructions
- Paint the surface of each coaster white and allow to dry completely. A white base makes the colors pop.
- Trace and cut a heart shape from clear contact paper. Remove the backing and press the heart firmly in the center of the coaster so the edges adhere evenly.
- Using a round foam dabber, make dots of paint around the edges of the coaster, overlapping the contact-paper heart slightly to create a blended edge. Let the paint dry completely.
- Carefully peel away the contact-paper heart. Cut a smaller heart from red glitter cardstock and glue it into the center for a sparkly finishing touch.

Prep Tips
- Alternative stencils: If you don’t have contact paper, cut a heart from cardstock or construction paper and tape it down. Be careful, as paper can shift while painting.
- Stamping tools: No foam dabber? Use a clean thumb, cotton ball, or the end of a paintbrush to make round dots.
- Personalize: Add names, dates, or initials with a fine paintbrush or metallic paint pen to turn the coaster into a treasured keepsake year after year.
