Fresh-cut blooms and real cranberries create an easy, elegant centerpiece perfect for Thanksgiving.

I’m sharing the centerpiece my mom and I made for her Thanksgiving table last year. I waited to post it until this season so you can use the idea now. It’s simple, beautiful, and takes very little time to assemble.

The concept is straightforward: use two glass vessels, one slightly smaller that nests inside the larger one, creating a gap to hold fresh cranberries. Fill the outer container completely with cranberries to conceal the inner vase. Then fill the inner vase with water and short-stemmed fresh-cut blooms—Costco flowers worked well for us. Keeping the flowers trimmed low gives a fuller look and keeps the centerpiece low enough for guests to see across the table.
We made two centerpieces and used almost three bags of cranberries in total. Each inner vase held three large, multicolored sunflowers, which offered a cheerful, seasonal focal point.
This approach is versatile: swap sunflowers for mums, roses, or seasonal greenery to match your table palette. The fresh cranberries add rich color and texture while remaining inexpensive and disposable after the holiday.

Tips for success:
- Choose clear glass containers with smooth sides so the cranberries show clearly and the effect stays tidy.
- Trim flower stems short enough that blooms sit just above the rim of the inner vase for good balance and sightlines.
- Rinse cranberries and dry them briefly if they appear wet, so they layer neatly without slipping.
- If your cranberries are lightweight and tend to float, tuck a few small marbles or glass beads at the bottom of the outer vase to help anchor them in place while keeping the look natural.
Don’t forget to save a few extra cranberries for sauce or another recipe—my mom’s cranberry sauce is a favorite for good reason.

Wishing you a warm and festive Thanksgiving!
