With summer here, thoughts about wearing shorts or a bathing suit naturally resurface. For many, those situations trigger negative body image, harsh self-talk, and feelings of not being good enough.

Some women in my community haven’t shown their legs in decades because they’re anxious about how others will perceive them.

I understand that fear—I used to be that woman. I’ve battled self-consciousness and dysmorphic thoughts, and I speak from experience. My tone in this episode is compassionate but direct; consider it a wake-up call delivered with love.

No one else will begin valuing you for you unless you start doing that for yourself. That means recognizing and rejecting tired narratives that no longer serve you.

Unlearning old habits and adopting new ways of seeing yourself is absolutely possible. It takes consistent work, but it’s achievable.
