If you haven’t tried BBQ chicken pizza yet, you’re in for a real treat. Can I use store bought pizza crust?
Yes. While I like a quick homemade dough, a refrigerated store-bought crust works fine. Unroll it onto a greased baking sheet, shape to fit, poke holes with a fork, and bake 7–8 minutes before adding toppings. Then bake another 10–15 minutes until the cheese melts and the crust is lightly browned.
How to make BBQ Chicken Pizza
- In a stand mixer bowl, add the yeast and pour warm water over it, stirring to dissolve. Add honey, salt, oil, and flour. Mix until the dough clears the sides of the bowl. If you don’t have a stand mixer, combine and knead the dough by hand (vigorous kneading for about 30 strokes). Cover and let the dough rest while you preheat the oven and prepare toppings, about 10–15 minutes.
- Cook and shred two chicken breasts, or use one shredded rotisserie chicken for convenience.
- Lightly grease a sheet pan or round pizza pan. With greased hands, pull and shape the dough into a rectangle or circle and stretch it to fit the pan.
- Poke the dough with a fork and bake in a preheated 425°F oven for 8 minutes. Remove the crust and spread about 1¼ cups of BBQ sauce over it. Top with 2 cups shredded mozzarella, 1¼ cups cooked shredded chicken, ¾ cup bacon bits, and ½ cup grated Parmesan. Drizzle a little extra BBQ sauce on top.
- Return to the oven and bake an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro if desired and serve immediately.

- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped (optional)
Instructions
